Preparation: Holter Monitoring – 48 Hours is an extended continuous heart rhythm recording test that monitors the electrical activity of the heart over a 48-hour period. A small portable device is connected to electrodes placed on the chest, recording every heartbeat while the patient continues normal daily activities. This longer monitoring duration increases the likelihood of detecting intermittent arrhythmias, unexplained palpitations, dizziness, fainting spells, and helps assess the effectiveness of cardiac medications or implanted devices. It provides more comprehensive information than a routine ECG.
